Man spends £14k on gold shirt to impress women

Thanks to shows such as Jersey Shore and The Only Way Is Essex, men are spending more time than ever on their "look". Now anyone who's seen a man wearing a t-shirt with a plunging neckline, exposing a freshly shaved chest will know this is not always a good thing.

But Indian money-splasher Datta Phuge has opted for a more extravagant way to impress the opposite sex. By commissioning a shirt made from solid gold.

The 32-year-old money-lender hired a team of 15 goldsmiths to create the £14,000 ($22,500) shirt, which also comes with matching cuffs and a set of rings made from the left-over gold.

'I know I am not the best looking man in the world but surely no woman could fail to be dazzled by this shirt?' he told Indian newspaper Pune Mirror.

For those wishing to get their own made, or to just laugh in more detail at the guy, the shirt has a fabric base of imported white velvet and boasts six Swarovski crystal buttons. Oh and a gold bet.

Ladies, you have been warned.
