Lightning hits world's tallest tower

A BLAST of lightning strikes the world's tallest skyscraper - illuminating the sky in a purple glow.

Standing at 828m high, the Burj Khalifa towers above all other buildings in Dubai. Its spire was constructed using more than 4,000 tonnes of structural steel and is designed to attract lightning strikes away from the main structure and channel them safely to the ground.
