Lennon's tooth sells for £19,500

A Canadian dentist has paid £19,500 ($31,258) at auction for John Lennon's teeth.

Phone bidder Michael Zuk picked up the former Beatle's chomper at an auction in Stockport that consisted of a collection of rock memorabilia owned by former Creation Records boss Alan McGee.

The tooth was originally given by Lennon to his housekeeper during the 1960s as a souvenir. He was all heart.

"Once I heard it was up for sale I had to have it," Zuk told BBC News. "Some people will think it's gross, others will be fascinated by it."

Zuk, who has penned a book about celebrities' teeth, plans to show off the famous tooth at his dental surgery.
