LBC employees broke into 'massive cheers and applause' after Katie Hopkins got fired

It sounds like the staff at LBC are just as gutted about Katie’s abrupt exit from the station as the rest of the nation.

After this morning’s announcement that the incessant bile-spewing super troll would depart from her presenting role ‘immediately’, her colleagues, who received the news by email, are said to have broken into 'massive cheers and applause’. That’s according to Amol Rajan, the BBC’s media editor.

Hopkins was widely condemned after she called for a “final solution” – the term the Nazis used for the extermination of Jewish people – when reacting on Twitter to the Manchester Arena attack. The initial tweet was later deleted and replaced with one that expressed the need for a “true solution”, but the language was deemed by many to have overstepped the line.

LBC has made no public confirmation that her axing was due to the tweet, but it comes after a series of high-profile public figures called for a boycott of the station while she remained on their payroll.

Anyone still pining for their fix of Hopkins’ trademark garbage straight-talking can catch her popular Mail Online column, for which she was last year ordered to pay £150,000 in libel damages after incorrectly accusing a Muslim family of having links to extremism.
