Well here's an offer you can't refuse…
first illustrated odeThe GodfatherPart II
The previous effort, in case you missed it, focused on the breathless few moments before Vito Corleone was shot down at an orange stall. This one, however, concerns another cornerstone of the Mafioso's life, depicting young Vito nestled among luggage aboard a ship pulling into Staten Island as the American dream and his subsequent empire draws ever nearer.
This visual metaphor is presented to us in the shape of the Statue of Liberty, overshadowing the young man as he sits with his back to it, oblivious to the grip he will later have on the city. Fans will also appreciate the accompanying quote, “When he grows, he will grow strong,” taken from Vito's mortal enemy Don Francesco - who didn't half get that premonition right.
And should you want even more authenticity, Durieux has even created 200 Italian language prints to add alongside the 365 English language originals.
Even if it wasn't connected to one of the greatest films of all-time, we'd still want this hanging from our living room wall.
