Junk Food Turned Into Alien Worlds

Junk Food Turned Into Alien Worlds

Junk Food Turned Into Alien Worlds
06 February 2014

As kids, we were all encouraged not to play with our food. Two photographers are showing that you should never listen to your parents and that playing with your dinner can lead to amazing things.

Snappers Barbara Ciurej and Lindsay Lochman have taken a variety of processed foods and used them to make miniature landscapes that look like alien planets.

Inspired by the work of Carleton Watkins, a late-19th century photographer who became famous for sweeping shots of Yosemite Valley, California, the photographs, which use everything from cereal to chicken skin, are intended to draw attention to the uncharted territory humanity is entering as our food becomes more engineered and less natural. So you can take that message, or you can just enjoy them because a Fruit Loop lagoon looks a bit like Honey I Shrunk The Kids crossed with Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Your call.
