Proof that cars and bikes can get on

Italian bike specialists inspired by Maserati

Hip Italian bike makers Montante Cicli pay tribute to the archetypal Maserati racing car, the 8CTF. We are suitably impressed.

As anyone that has ever been privy to the daily mayhem of London’s roads will attest, cars and bikes are not always the cosiest of bedfellows.

Thankfully, that might be about to change. Cult Italian bicycle specialists Montante Cicli have designed a beautiful racing cycle that pays homage to the Maserati 8CTF, arguably the classic Italian racing car.

The bike was unveiled at last month’s Paris Motor Show and has already become a hit among cycling and motoring aficionados.

The bike’s perfectly judged use of wine-red and chrome is inspired by the car that triumphed at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940. The attention to detail continues with the use of the same red leather on the saddle, handlebars and pedal loops that would have adorned the 8CTF’s driver’s seat, while the frame of the bike sports the timeless Maserati logo.

If you fancy one of the bikes, and let’s face it, why wouldn’t you, you’re going to have to be quick though. Only 200 have been made – each numbered – and it’ll set you back a cool £2,400. See www.montantecicli.it for more details.
