Is This The Worst Political Metaphor Ever?

Politicians are always trying to dumb down things for the public, who they don't trust to actually understand those difficult things that they do. Like "business". And "economy".

From Cameron comparing our national debt to paying back a personal credit card (ask any economist, it's not) to Miliband comparing leading Labour to steering the Titanic (not exactly what you had in mind Ed), they very rarely end up being either accurate or helpful.

However, we usually expect better from our journalists, especially those at the institution that is the BBC, but when Eddie Mair and Tim Harford started to compare Britain's economy to a pizza on Eddie's Radio 4 program, things soon went wrong.

Hilariously illustrated by video editing guru Jon Harvey, listen and watch below as the two of them manage to make a complete mess of everything, confusing themselves and their listeners. And there was no need to bring olives into any of this. Just leave them out of it.
