Intimate Portraits Of Rock Stars Backstage

Intimate Portraits Of Rock Stars Backstage

Intimate Portraits Of Rock Stars Backstage
28 October 2014

You've got your ticket and you've bought your pint. All there is to do now is wait until the band come on stage.

But what's it like for them, just as they're about to go on? And as they come off, a jubilant sweaty wreck?

Thanks to some unprecedented access, a new coffee-table book captures those moments in intimate detail.

The 72-page hardback tome, titled ON/OFF, has been compiled by photographer Tom Oldham over the course of six years in venues across the UK. Oldham has secured access to some of the biggest rock stars on the planet, taking their portrait just before they go on stage and as soon as they come off it.

Oldham's stylish black and white portraits of artists including Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance, Paul Weller, Primal Scream and M.I.A. pay homage to the early work of Rolling Stone photographer Annie Liebovitz.

The book is currently seeking funding on PledgeMusic, with proceeds going to the War Child charity.

Take a look below, if only to remind yourself of just how big Alex Turner's hair got.
