The Batmobile is all very well and good for bringing justice to the streets, but have you seen the MPG stats? You need to be a playboy millionaire just to top up the tank.

The Dark Knight would get much better mileage from a modest European city car. Why not the Citroen Deux Chevaux? It even looks pretty swish in black.

In the brilliant series Unconventional Heroes, artist Gerald Bear supplants the fantastical vehicles of pop culture with more 'regular' transport options. Tron's lightbikes? A Honda CN 250 would fit the bill. And who can really afford to send a DeLorean through time? The classic Fiat Cinquecento is a far more realistic option.
