Naturally, the bequiffed auteur rebuffed the chance to take charge of the original trilogy’s final chapter, leaving many of us to wonder just how a bizarre collaboration like that might have turned out.
Well now we know – sort of – as one clever fan, known as C-SPIT, has given the sci-fi classic an altogether Lynchian vibe: backwards speaking Yoda, singing alien nightclub, sandscapes to match those of Dune – it's all creepily packed in to marvelous effect.
