Iconic buildings from famous films

For Christmas of 2011, the ShortList office was inexplicably sent a 2012 calendar of The UK's Best Buildings. Now, the Gherkin is a perfectly lovely block of glass, but we defy anyone to further their appreciation of it with daily glances for the duration of August. The less said about July (BT Tower) the better.

We would have loved a calendar of Federico Babina's work. The architect and illustrator's latest series, ARCHICINE, sees iconic buildings from famous films given a graphic reworking. Brilliant structures from A Single Man, The Big Lebowski and Star Wars have been lovingly reconstructed with bold colours and crisp lines.

We hadn't realised how much of an impression four walls and a roof could make on us. Here's to a 'Best Building' category at next year's Oscars.
