Haunting Illustrations Of Cinema's Spookiest Houses

Like Newton's law of motion and Einstein's observations on mass and energy, it's a rule of horror cinema that if a car breaks down on an isolated back road there's going to be a dilapidated mansion within a five minute walk. We're pretty sure we read a mathematical proof for it somewhere.

Candice Tripp is familiar with this undying trope. Inspired by the recurring theme of haunted homes and bedevilled buildings of Gothic cinema and horror films, the Newcastle-based artist decided to revel in the mystery and tension of the real stars of horror films - their ghastly houses.

From woodland cabins to towering estates, Tripp has worked her brooding artistry on the likes of buildings from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Omen and Nightmare on Elm Street. Fittingly, she'll be putting them up for sale on over the Halloween weekend, commencing midday on 31 October. Here's hoping they don't introduce any unwanted spiritual activity to your own living room.
