Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is as strong as his name is difficult to pronounce. Which is very.

The Icelandic strong man, best known for his exploits as Sir Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane in HBO's Game of Thrones, set a new world record over the weekend during the World's Strongest Viking competition in Norway.

One of the events in the strong man contest is based on the legend of Orm Storolfson, a Viking who carried the mast of the famed longship Ormen Lange on his own shoulders. To complete the task, Björnsson was required to lift a 640kg tree trunk on his back and walk with it. Here's how he did...

By taking those shuffling steps,  Björnsson matched a legendary feat of strength. Though it might not look like he covered much of a distance, few men have ever supported as much as 640kg on their back (the world record squat isn't over 600kg), let alone endured such a weight and managed to move with it.

Obviously you don't need us to tell you not to try this at home. Or in the woods. Best leave it to men with the blood of the Vikings in their veins, and whose nicknames include "Thor" and "The Mountain".
