Flying Marsupials Make Home in UK

Aleksandr and his chums may have caught the imagination of the nation, but they have a new challenger to the title of coolest small animal, in the form of the Australian sugar glider.

Five of these furry marsupials, related to the wombat and the kangaroo, have made their home at the Animal Experience Zoo in Cambridge, where they're looked after by animal enthusiast Kayleigh Price.

In the wild, they throw themselves between treetops, using their built-in wings to glide distances of up to 200m.

The sugar gliders are just one of over 120 animals that are housed at Kayleigh's parents giant menagerie, used to educate visitors about the animals they house.

We give it weeks before they're used to advertise travel insurance.
