Ferrari Designer's New Luxury Train

Say what you like about Japan’s risky attitude to train travel – bullets, futurism, breakneck speeds – but don’t say it’s anything less than exciting.

The next ludicrous example of this comes in the shape of a new luxury liner from the mind of renowned Ferrari designer Ken Okuyama: Cruise.

Costing north of $50m and accommodating an exclusive number of 34 passengers in just 10 carriages, coupled with some amazing curves both inside and out, it’s exactly what you’d expect from the genius behind the Enzo Ferrari and the Ferrai P4/5.

We can explain the roominess. Decked out with a series of private suites, glass-fronted observation cars, bar, restaurant and lounge, each littered with sleekly expensive furniture, it’s a hotel-on-the-move which, once completed, will cost around £1,500 for a two night trip/stay on whatever electric or non-electric rail it’s put on in late 2017.

Indeed - Cruise is still a year away from construction, giving you ample time to save up for a ticket to ride. Though we’re going out on a limb and saying economy won't be an option.
