Eurovision is officially more popular than porn
19 May 2016

What comes to mind what you imagine a typical European porn viewer?

Big Game of Thrones fan? You’re on the money. Someone who cancels all their plans to play a newly released Fallout game? Correct again.

Well now you can add Eurovision to the list of events responsible for plummeting porn traffic. Yes, we're not kidding, Eurovision.

Smut giant Pornhub claimed it saw a massive dip in users when the song contest started up, with France and Germany seeing the largest amount of laptops sheepishly closed in order to tune into the bash in Stockholm.

‘France, Belgium and Germany top the list, with traffic levels down more than -25% below normal’, said the website’s report.

'Traffic across all of Europe dropped -11% during the 4 hours Eurovision finale, when compared to normal traffic on a Saturday night. The peak drop of -16% happened around 21:00, and returned to normal levels around 23:00’.

By twist of fate, Russia’s Eurovision entry, Sergey Lazarev - the favourite to win the competition but who ended up in third place - was himself embroiled in controversy ahead of the contest when naked photos surfaced online giving away his past career as a fetish porn actor.
