Saoirse Ronan gave Ed Sheeran a tattoo that says ‘Galway Grill’

Fun fact: I have literally never met someone who likes Ed Sheeran. Not one person who would willingly admit to liking Ed Sheeran. Someone must – he was number one for 12 weeks! His latest album, ÷, was the fastest selling album by a male artist ever! Every song on the album was in the Top 40! Never met one, though.

But whatever you think of the little ginger scamp, we can all agree on one thing: his tattoos are shit. From the badly proportioned teddy on his arm to his ‘ironic’ “ladz on tour” script, Ed’s body is a veritable smorgasbord of bad decisions and future regret.

And now he has a new addition to his roster of quite-badly-executed ink: a tattoo of the words “Galway Grill” on his arm, done by actress Saoirse Ronan.

Ronan was asked to do the tattoo after starring in the video for Ed’s latest (and much mocked) single, ‘Galway Girl’.

Sheeran revealed the slip-up at a gig in Glasgow.

“When we were filming it, I meant to get a tattoo of her handwriting saying ‘Galway Girl’ from her point of view.” Sheeran said. “It actually says Galway Grill. G-R-I-L-L. She really took the piss out of me — full on.”

“I haven’t actually told anyone that yet. I’m actually quite proud of her. It’s the kind of thing I would do.”

Did she do it on purpose? Can she just not spell? Either way, Saoirse Ronan is our new hero.
