Did Donald Trump make his bizarre CNN wrestling tweet himself? And if not where did it come from?
03 July 2017

President Donald Trump has full-on lost it.

It’s strange now, because we’ve all got so used to the fact that Donald Trump is the President that we barely blink when he tweets out blatant lies or makes entirely false comments about terrorist attacks – you almost have to remind yourself that this is not normal. The President of the USA is not supposed to have his own, separate, personal Twitter account, from which he spews whatever shit he chooses, without worrying about the truth or consequences of it all.

But this is what happens when you elect a reality TV star to lead your country. This is what happens when you elect a man who was part of a hair vs. hair match at Wrestlemania 23 to be the so-called leader of the free world.

Which is why, when he tweeted out a video of himself yesterday – a GIF of himself from that very Wrestlemania match, but edited so that he was literally beating up CNN. Punching CNN, the news organisation, in the face. If you’ve not seen it already, then here it is.

He accompanied the video with no words, but two hashtags, #FraudNewsCNN and #FNN. In 19 hours, it’s already been retweeted more than 275,000 times.

This all begged the question, did Donald Trump make this video himself, or more accurately, did he get someone to make it for him? Or was it just something he discovered online and loved so much he decided to put it out there?

We’re dubious Trump has the video editing skills required to make this, but then also, it does seem like something he would do. I could totally see Donald Trump binning off several days’ worth of actual, presidential work in order to teach himself how to make this video.

It turns out that this is too bizarre even for Donald Trump, though – the video actually comes from Reddit, and was first posted by user HanAssholeSolo.

The original post

He has a dubious posting history, to put it lightly. Just the other day he posted an article with the caption: “Starbucks coffee tests positive for fecal bacteria...could it be….MUSLIM IMMIGRANT HIRES?”

Firstly, “HanAsshole” (actually, I’m just going to call you ‘Asshole’), no, obviously this is not the reason we’ve all been drinking poo coffee.

He’s a regular commenter on r/TheDonald, and other lowlights from his Reddit past include this anti-Muslim picture used to attack Barack Obama, and this piece of ‘fake news’, highlighted by Indy100.

I, for one, am shocked that Donald Trump would share content from a user like this (I am not shocked, I am not shocked at all). ‘Asshole’ has been absolutely loving it, unsurprisingly. He posted in r/The_Donald yesterday saying “Wow!! I never expected my meme to be retweeted by the God Emporer himself!!!

Well, ‘Asshole’, it wasn’t actually retweeted, Trump stole it, and he didn’t credit you. And also you don’t know how to spell Emperor.
