Balloonist flies up to 18,000 feet over Mexico

Okay so he didn't take his entire house with him, but daredevil balloonist Jonathan Trappe has certainly given Up's Carl Fredricksen a run for his money.

To celebrate the Festival International Del Globo 2010, Trappe flew with a worryingly small cluster of helium balloons to lift him up to 18,000 feet over Mexico. Luckily not resulting in tragedy, it's instead provided us with some incredible photos.

As in Up, he controlled his 100 mile journey by releasing air and reached a speed of up to 50mph. Earlier this year Trappe also became the first man to cross the English channel using just balloons.

Using standard party shop prices as a barometer, this makes balloons around 200% cheaper than flying.
