Crafty Amnesty posters

Long gone are the days when you could just scream ‘free sex’ and instantly grab everyone’s attention – actually, sadly, that’s probably not true, but for the purposes of this story bear with us.

That’s why we applaud, whistle, cheer and whoop this stealth-like Amnesty International poster drive currently running on the streets of London.

Dubbed ‘Making the invisible visible’, the campaign seeks to raise awareness of the plight of Troy Davis, an American who has been on Death Row for 19 years despite serious doubts about the legitimacy of his conviction.

Berlin street art whizz kids Mentalgassi are the collective behind this cunning crusade. Their posters, showing a close-up of Davis’s face, are mounted on railings in various central London streets, but ingeniously can only be seen properly from the side, thanks to some crafty smoke and mirrors assembly, thus making the seemingly invisible visible.

Clever, very clever and far more edible than some nutter walking around with a sandwich board promising something he can never, ever, deliver.
