Boeing’s Self-Destruct Spy Phone

“This message will self-destruct in five seconds.” It’s a phrase sure to evoke memories of Ethan Hunt discarding an expensive looking device in the Mission Impossible franchise before it goes up in flames - and now, thanks to Boeing, a reality.

The aerospace engineers, of course no stranger to stealth technologies, have cooked up a covert cellular device fittingly known as Black, which self-destructs when tampered with - not into a cloud of dust, we should point out, but a full wipe of its internal memory drives.

With an interface similar to the newest touch screen BlackBerry phones, it works on an Android operating system, packing in satellite transceivers, discrete radio channels, solar charging, advanced location tracking biometrics. dual SIM cards, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

In short, it might as well be bulletproof (and probably is). Though don’t be expecting this furtive technology to pop up on Amazon anytime soon. This special phone is currently only being sold to government agencies.

Then again, if you really want your device to self-destruct in a manner of seconds, we hear dropping an iPhone onto the pavement has similar effect.

See more about the device, below.
