Biggest photograph ever taken

High resolution images clogging up your inbox? Imagine what 7,886 of the beggars would do.

That's the amount of snaps one man had to stitch together to make the biggest photograph in history. An 80gigapixel snap of London, taken from Centre Point on Tottenham Court Road.

Snapper Jeffrey Martin says it's so big it would measure 35m long and 17m tall if printed. In fairness it only took three days for Martin to take each snap, from the top of the 36 floor tower using a DSLR camera with a 400mm lens.

Super-powerful computers (like Bertha. Remember Bertha?) were then required to put the images together. We'd like to say we've hidden a copy of ShortList somewhere in the photo and that the first person to find it wins £100,000. But that would be a lie.

Head this way.
