Antelope takes out mountain biker

"And there's plenty more where that came from!"

Antelope takes out mountain biker
10 October 2011

Motorists and pedestrians alike can often have the hump with cyclists. Sure their mode of transport is green and they're probably fitter than the rest of us, but they pedal about town with an infuriating 'holier-than-thou' attitude.

It's not just humans that have spotted it, too. An antelope went postal when he spotted 17-year-old Evan van der Spuy competing in a mountain bike at Albert Falls Dam, South Africa.

Cruising across the plain, poor Evan was hit by a Red Hartebeest buck, knocking him from his bike and smashing his helmet.

The animal stumbled to its feet and legged it, but the whole attack was captured by fellow racer Travis Walker.

Mr Van der Spuy was taken to hospital but did not suffer any serious injuries beyond minor concussion and whiplash.
