A Genealogy of Nike trainers

In 1964 Portland, USA, Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman established Blue Ribbon Sports; a small footwear supplier that stripped Tiger shoes down to create improved running shoes. Fast forward to 1971 and after some success the partners decided a rebrand was in order. A new name and accompanying 'Swoosh' logo were settled on. Some 200 shoes and 43 years on, Knight and Bowerman's business is one of the biggest brands on the planet.

From remodelled Onitsuka Tigers to woven layers, football to basketball, Nike has come a long way in a little over four decades - a path of innovation highlighted wonderfully by the animators at Golden Wolf.

Commissioned by Nike to create a video for its Genealogy of Innovation campaign, the following short recaps every major change, improvement and alteration the brand has undergone in seven major eras.
