How to get rid of a song that's stuck in your head

Is a song driving you crazy?

Over the years there have been many scientific studies seeking to find the catchiest song of all time.

Last year, the Universities of Manchester and Amsterdam combined to decide it was the Spice Girls' Wannabe. This eclipsed the findings of a 2012 study by Goldsmiths University London, which claimed it was Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer.

Either way, you've now got one or both those songs stuck in your head.

And here's the big question: how do you get rid of them? Well the answer, according to the University of Reading, lies in the act of chewing gum.

According to their study, reports Mashable, chewing gum whilst listening to songs gives you a 33% greater chance of shaking them off (and now you've got Taylor Swift in your head - great).

So. Does Juicy Fruit contain a magic ingredient that nullifies the Spice Girls' appeal? Of course not, that's just silly. The answer is simple: it's more difficult to hear music when you're noisily noshing on a chud.

Keep an emergency stash of Wrigley's about your person. You never know when you'll run into something annoying.
