World’s Largest Cup of Coffee

Despite our addiction to the bitter nectar, we'd never need as many as 216,000 espressos. However, that's the exact quantity created by De' Longhi in their bid to produce the world's largest cup of coffee

The brand attempted to break the Guinness World Record by building a blue mug 2.9m high by 2.6m wide, outside Canary Wharf Tube station. The handle alone measured 2m high and the structure took a team of four designers and builders 504 hours to erect.

The current record is 12,847.69 litres, which was set in Puerto Rico in 2011. De’Longhi’s attempt held a total of 13,000 litres of coffee (the equivalent of 216,000 espressos) and weighed in at 12.8 tonnes when full.

De'Longhi will find out if they've officially broken the record in a couple of days.
