Even though it’s got a massive angry ape on it and a decidedly creepy name, people just keep going back to Skull Island.

This time it’s Thor’s naughty brother, aka Tom Hiddleston, who’ll be going to the home of King Kong, as Legendary Pictures (300: Rise Of An Empire, Godzilla) appears to have greenlit Skull Island, the movie.

Godzilla scribe Max Borenstein will write the script, which takes place almost entirely on the island and will tell the origin story of cinema’s most famous giant gorilla.

Initial reports suggested that Attack The Block director Joe Cornish might be at the helm. However, Collider today reports that Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be in the chair. Vogt-Roberts’ credits include The Kings Of Summer and Sony’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid film.

In the mean time, Hiddleston plays Hank Williams in the upcoming biopic I Saw The Light. He recently took to the stage at a music festival in America to perform a cover of Williams' Move It On Over, entirely in character.

Skull Island is set for release on 4th November 2016.
