Olympian to wear mankini at opening ceremony as bet backfires

Australian Olympic shooting gold medalist Russell Mark is threatening to attend this year's Olympic opening ceremony wearing Borat's lime-green 'mankini' after he lost a bet.

Mark, who might be a flag bearer said he would wear the one piece if the Melbourne-based Carlton lost to St. Kilda in the Australian Football League. But as Carlton suffered a four-goal defeat in the match on Monday night, this could now be a reality.

When questioned on the matter, Mark said: "Oh, I must've been intoxicated. Anyway, a lot of people would think a mankini might look better (it doesn't Russell) than the uniform they've nominated for us, so I don't know if it's such a bad thing."

Someone who isn't a fan of Mark donning Sacha Baron Cohen's swimsuit is a spokesman for the Australian Olympic Committee who said: "Age is the problem here. Russell is no spring chicken, his days of being a model are long gone." (No, say what you really think).

Backtracking slightly he continued: "As we all know the London weather is fickle and we would not want him to catch cold."

Russell, if in doubt, blame the British weather.
