Martin Robinson to join ShortList from NME

New editor announced
09 March 2011

Following an exhaustive recruitment process, Shortlist Media is delighted to announce that the new Editor of ShortList magazine is Martin Robinson. One of Britain’s brightest young journalistic talents, Martin is currently Deputy Editor of IPC Media’s iconic music weekly NME, where he played a key role in its recent, successful redesign.

In only three and a half years from launch, ShortList has become the dominant magazine in the men’s sector with an audited weekly market share rising to 30.5% in the last ABC figures released *. Since its debut in 2007, the brand has won 21 prestigious industry awards for editorial, sales and publishing excellence and moved solidly into profitability in its third financial year. Shortlist.com, relaunched in October last year, is making significant traffic and commercial gains - and earlier this week saw the successful launch of bi-annual men’s fashion spin-off, ShortList MODE.

ShortList Media’s Editorial Director Phil Hilton says, “ShortList is a ground-breaking, ideas-driven magazine, and Martin Robinson impressed everyone who interviewed him with his creativity, his management acumen and his vision for the brand. I am looking forward to working with him to bring ever more ambitious print, online and live initiatives to life. Through his experience of working on NME.com, Martin truly represents the modern, multi-platform editor.”

Martin Robinson comments, “I am beyond thrilled to be the new editor of ShortList. The magazine has been the outstanding publishing success story of recent times, and I'll be working with the superb team there to make it even better. We'll be taking the most innovative men's magazine around, and making it stronger, sharper, and a true multi-platform brand. I can't wait to get started."

Martin will join the company in June. Terri White will continue to helm the magazine until April 15. The interim period will be under the very capable guidance of Deputy Editor Gershon Portnoi.
