By entering this competition you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

The winner will receive 12 months of coaching with a literary agent at Greene & Heaton Ltd

Included in this would be thinking four face-to-face meetings (location and times to be determined between the winner and agent), with interim reports by email.

If the winner doesn’t live in London, this can be done by Skype.

No transport or accommodation is included.

Any other costs will be need to be payable by the winner.

All submitted pieces of writing need to adhere to the word limit of 500-1000 words only.

Submitted pieces need to be written and formatted on a Word document only.

Submitted pieces will only be considered for legitimate entry if they are submitted via email to [email protected]

No postal entries will be considered.

The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The top ten shortlisted entries will be assessed by an expert panel of judges, made up from ShortList and Greene and Heaton, and will be published online. The winner must agree to give their permission for this.

Only one entry will be accepted per person.

The deadline for receiving entries for the competition is final and as stated. No entries received after the given date will be considered.

Winners will be contacted by telephone or email within 40 days of the closing date, 12 December 2014.

Competitions are open to all UK residents (over the age of 18 in alcohol, tobacco or travel-related competitions, and in other cases as stated) except our employees, the companies or organisations with whom the competition or offer is being run, their agents, or anyone directly connected with the promotion.

Detail of the winner can be obtained by sending a SAE marked Fiction Competition to ShortList Media Ltd, 26-34 Emerald Street, London WC1N 3QA, United Kingdom within 21 days of the closing date of the promotion.

Details of all entries will be kept on a database but will only be passed to third parties to enable analysis or the processing of the competition and prize fulfillment unless you specifically allow the data to be shared. This is the only occasion when another organisation apart from Shortlist Media will have access to your information. Data will only be shared with the competition partner when you consent to it by ticking the box on an offer or competition. The sponsor will be clearly named in the text next to the tick box and if the box is not ticked your data will not be shared. Any use will be in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

All entrants to competitions and offers are deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them, and agree to co-operate in any publicity that may arise which may include their name or image being used on websites, magazines or mobile services at any time as a result of the competition.

We reserve the right to disqualify or not award a prize to an entrant who in our opinion has not entered in to the spirit of these terms and conditions or the intention of the competition.
