Bear Grylls to cross the English Channel in a Water Jet-Pack

Bear Grylls today announced he will become the first man to attempt to cross the English Channel using a water jet-pack.

Originally invented by a former French jet ski champion, the Flyboard jet pack is the latest in maritime technology. Bear will attempt to be the first human to propel himself across the English Channel by having 2 small water jets strapped to his feet, trailing a long tube attached to a propulsion unit. The intense water jet will literally rocket Bear high above the water and allow him to skillfully maneuver and propel himself along up to 30ft in the air.

The 38-year-old adventurer will attempt the 23-mile journey on Thursday.

Grylls said: “This world record for me is all about adventure, pushing the boundaries and encouraging young people to grab life boldly and follow their dreams.”

He will be raising funds and awareness for the UK Scout Association.
