Well, your next experience at McDonald's probably won't be quite that level of fine dining, but it will be going up a notch with the announcement that McDonald's is rolling out table service across the UK in October, following a successful trial in 15 restaurants.
Stores will be fitted with "digital kiosks", devices similar to giant iPads, enabling customers to self-serve before taking a buzzer, sitting at their table and waiting for their order to be delivered by someone who we truly hope and pray will be forced to say "I'm lovin' it" to each and every customer as they drop off their order.
As part of a £350m overhaul to help them compete with the likes of Nandos, GBK and Five Guys, the franchise is also increasing customisation options, with customers being given choices over bread, cheese, toppings and sauce. We're not quite sure how giving people the option to have gherkin or not is going to cost £350m but, hey, we didn't invent the McFlurry so what do we know?
