McDonald's is finally sorting out a home delivery service to save our hungover selves

The big question: will they do it for breakfast?

McDonald's is finally sorting out a home delivery service to save our hungover selves
02 March 2017

Eating when cripplingly hungover is a problem. You need sustenance, it needs to be horrendous (yet delicious) junk food, and it needs to be brought steaming to your sweaty, grabbing hands. Leaving the house is very often not an option in any sense of the word. On a typical hungover lunchtime anywhere in the country, McDonald’s is usually very high on the want list, but it requires leaving the house, and we’ve already discussed that – nat going to happen.

As a result, you get pizza, or curry, or Chinese, or – much to McDonald’s chagrin – a Burger King. Yes, you can now get Burger King delivered, and that is a wonderful thing, because let’s be honest here, either will do.

So it’s about time that McDonald’s pulled its finger out and jumped on the delivery bandwagon – it’s been firmly sat in it in China, South Korea and Singapore for a while now, anyway. Thankfully, it’s finally put the plans in motion to bring it over here. It said about the extremely obvious move: “One of the most significant disruptions in the restaurant business today is the rapid increase in delivery. Through technology, delivery has changed the way customers order, pay, track and receive food and provide feedback.

“Coupled with the explosive growth in third-party delivery companies, the landscape has created an exceptional opportunity for growth.”

Hopefully, this new venture will help sort out their falling sales – they’ve lost 500 million customers since 2012. But then we could have told them that – Burger King have been killing it outside our flat for the past couple of months. Don’t you want a sweet slice of that pie, McDonald’s?

If you can handle the meal being snatched from your hands with the force of a thousand hurricanes, then yes, yes you do.
