One of the best burger joints in America is heading to the UK

Backed by a Hollywood star, no less

If there’s one thing America does well, it’s burgers.

If there’s a second thing, it’s Hollywood leading men who might occasionally be better suited to supporting roles or romcoms.

And if there’s a third, it’s early-90s boybands who changed the face of pop music with three multi-platinum albums.

So what if we told you all three of those were being imported to the UK in the form of one new restaurant?

You’d be excited, right? And so you should be.

Wahlburgers is one of Boston’s most famous burger restaurants and, yes, it’s headed up by the Wahlberg brothers.

That’s Ted star Mark, New Kids on the Block’s Donnie and burger entrepreneur Paul. Yup, Paul Wahlberg, as we live and breathe.

And the best part? It’s coming to the UK for the first time, with a restaurant due to launch in Covent Garden in September this year.

“Covent Garden is the perfect London location for our first UK restaurant and we look forward to connecting our family to everyone who visits Wahlburgers,” Mark Wahlberg said.

He’s clearly really keen to leave his Marky Mark on the capital - no, I’m not sorry.

We’re not sure yet whether the UK menu will be identical to its US version, but we have been promised homemade burgers and sandwiches, as well as salads and shakes.

We really hope they continue to call their kids’ menu ‘Smahlburgs’, too, because that’s a solid 9/10 pun.

Among the treats we can probably look forward to are the Fiesta Burger (with southwestern spice rub, fresh jalapenos and pepper jack cheese) and the Thanksgiving Turkey Burger (with stuffing, cranberry-orange sauce and roasted butternut squash), while extras on the US menu include tater tots, root beer floats and cupcakes.

Wahlburgers is just one of a few big American chains to land in the UK of late, with Habit Burger Grill announcing its launch not that long ago.

We’re not just getting burgers, either, as Slim Chickens brought chicken tenders and wings to London at the start of 2018.

And if sandwiches are your thing, Which Wich? opened its doors in 2018.

Essentially, we’re pretty spoilt for choice.
