London's theatre scene is getting the big Black Friday treatment once again - here are some of the best things on offer

When you hear “Black Friday”, you immediately think of giant retailers cheerily slashing prices across everything from speakers to soap. There’s almost nothing that escapes a cheeky discount, and in the run-up to Christmas, every little helps. Luckily, for all theatre-goers and musical-lovers London Theatre District’s Black Friday sales are back for 2025.

The sale is now live, running across a whole host of different shows from family favourites to comedy classics, with huge discounts of up to 60% off West End shows. It’s not just small fringe shows or as-yet-undiscovered-theatrical endeavours in tucked away local theatres where you have to go on a Tuesday at 11 am to get the cheap tickets, the sales are running across some of London’s hottest shows including: The Devil Wears Prada, Six, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Hamilton, Les Mis, Back to the Future, and more.

If you’re not into musicals, there are some more classic plays like The Mousetrap, Witness for the Prosecution, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Clarkston. There are also discounts on offer for Cirque du Soleil's OVO, and the incredible Shen Yun - plus, ballet-lovers can save over 40% on tickets for Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes.

It’s also a great opportunity for snapping up a Christmas theatre bargain, as there are a couple of festive shows like Elf the Musical and Pinocchio at the Globe, which are also getting the BF treatment - even though they are limited-run shows.

What Actually Is Cyber Monday?

Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. The phrase Black Friday was first used in the Fifties to refer to people calling in sick the day after Thanksgiving. The day was used by people who wanted to head to the shops to get buying ready for Christmas.

Black Friday also refers to the general chaos that is created on the day, which if you’ve ever watched those viral videos of people fighting over TVs is probably fair enough.

While the event has happened in the US for decades, the UK has only fairly recently embraced the tradition. Though, the manic scenes in shopping centres seem to have been replaced by furiously clicking away at home.

Is Cyber Monday Just One Day?

Officially yes, but the buying spree continues way beyond it. While many shops have early Black Friday events, the day officially starts at midnight on November 24 (aka late Thursday night). Amazon already has early Black Friday deals happening, culminating on Black Friday itself (25 November). You then have Cyber Monday - where there are exclusive deals online - so some discounts may continue throughout the weekend.

When Is Black Friday?

This year, Black Friday is 24 November, but Amazon has started their Black Friday deals 17 November. Then Cyber Monday always follows on the first Monday after Thanksgiving, so this year it will be on 28 November.

Where To Find The Best Cyber Monday Deals?

Let’s be honest, there will be deals everywhere. You probably won’t be able to click on site with being often some sort of discount. Let’s start with the obvious; Amazon. As one of the largest retailers in the world, Amazon takes events like Black Friday very seriously (you only have to look at Amazon Prime Day to see that). Often some of the best deals are on their own products, so keep an eye on their Echo Dots, Fire TV sticks and Kindles. We now know that its early Black Friday sale is happening - so get ready for a whole month of discounts.

It might even be worth signing up to Amazon Prime to get the most out of the day, as having a Prime membership will almost certainly get you extra savings. It’ll cost you £79 a year, or £40 a year if you’re a student. However, there’s an initial 30-day free Amazon trial if you just want to try it out (sounds like a win-win to us).

Currys PC World also had some major discounts on TVs last year so, if yours needs a bit of an update, maybe wait until Black Friday and buy yourself an early Christmas treat. There’s also likely to be some great deals on laptops, phones and cameras.

If you’re actually intending to venture out on Black Friday John Lewis and Next are the shops to make a bee-line for. John Lewis often drops the prices of a range of tech gadgets. It is also likely to be another retailer with some decent deals on TVs, too.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening may have only been relaunched on Nintendo Switch a couple of months ago, but it hasn't avoided the Black Friday treatment.

There's currently £13 off the Nintendo Switch game and, seeing as Switch games are notorious for avoiding any major discounts, that's a pretty decent deal.

Usually £49.99, Link's Awakening is now only £36.99 on Currys PC World. That's one of the best Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals we've seen, as it's either still full price or over £40 on most other sites.

For those who don't know, having originally been released 26 years ago for Game Boy, Link's Awakening was only relaunched on Nintendo Switch in September this year.

Switch players will follow Link after she is washed ashore on the mysterious Koholint Island. In order to return home, Link must travel across the island battling against fearsome monsters.

Bourbon County Stout 2019 gets Black Friday UK release

Chicago-based craft brewery, Goose Island, is once again launching its iconic Bourbon County Stout beer in the UK. But you’ll need to be savvy to get hold of some.

As per tradition, the annual limited edition beer has been released on Black Friday.

In order to get your hands on it first, fans need to head to the Goose Island brewpub in Shoreditch to buy the imperial stout, starting at 8:30am.

As a bonus, fans can expect a Q&A session with the brewpub’s Head Brewer, Andrew Walton, a Bourbon County Stout themed breakfast and exclusive offers on merchandise.

Bottles will just be the standard edition, but the brewpub will also be tapping a keg of 2018 in the morning (that’ll wake you up), followed by 2017, 2018's 'Bramble' variant, and 2019 every half hour from 6:30pm.

If you don’t fancy queuing in the (likely lousy) London weather, then Bourbon County Stout is available to order from Beer Hawk at £20 per bottle (max 6 per customer), or £29.99 for a tasting kit including a glass and a collector’s edition gift box.

You can taste it ahead of the release by getting tickets (£30 each) to the Beer & Bourbon pairing evening with the British Bourbon Society on 28th November. There'll be four beers - including 2019 and 2018 variants - matched with four bourbons, followed by some deep dish pizza.

The 2019 edition of Bourbon County Stout weighs in at a hefty 15.2% and comes in a shareable 500ml bottle.

The imperial stout, as the name suggests, has been aged in ex-bourbon barrels. This time around, it's a combination of a 4+ year old Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey barrels.

You can expect an intense, thick and rich beer with flavours of dried cherry, rich cocoa, smooth caramel, almond and vanilla. The barrels also impart hints of leather and tobacco.

It's the fastest-ever selling Nintendo Switch game and now it is at its lowest-price ever. That's right Luigi Mansion 3, the hit Nintendo Switch game has gone and gotten its own Black Friday discount and it is now the lowest price we have seen for the game.

Nintendo Switch games are notorious for not getting heavy discounts. Luigi Mansion 3 has been £44 since its release and we weren't really expecting the game to go down in the Black Friday sales.

Sound the deal alarm. We just found the best phone bargain of Black Friday 2019 so far.

Amazon is selling the Samsung Galaxy S10e for just £399, 40% off its original £669. You have to get the phone in Prism Green to see this price. For reasons unknown the others cost £100 more.

So, what’s special about the Samsung Galaxy S10e? It’s the lower-cost alternative to the Galaxy S10 or S10 Plus, but is not some cheap and tatty version.

It still has a glass back and aluminium sides. You get the same high-end processor, two brilliant rear cameras and 128GB storage.

Where’s the catch? At £399 there isn’t one. The front isn’t curved like a Galaxy S10, which we don’t really miss, and there’s no zoom camera on the back, which we do miss. However, this is otherwise a phone that can go head-to-head with any phone out there and come away without looking like a bad buy.

Dig a little deeper into the Skagen website and you'll also find its WearOS Falster watch on sale, at £89 down from £299. It looks great, but bear in mind it does not have GPS or a heart rate scanner like many smartwatches.

It's worth having a rummage around Skagen's sale. Several non-smart watches are included at around £45. And while they may not have the smarts of the Falster and Hagen, many of the designs are beautiful, and feature higher-price parts like leather or steel mesh straps. Some of these straps are worth more than the cost of the watch. If that isn't a sign of a good deal, we don't know what is.

Odeon's Black Friday Limitless deal earns you a £30 voucher

Odeon has kicked-off its Black Friday celebrations, offering a £30 Amazon voucher if you sign up for its Limitless card.

Limitless lets you see as many films as you want, as often as you want, for £17.99 a month. Or £19.99 a month if you want to visit central London cinemas like Leicester Square and Luxe Haymarket.

This is one of just a handful of Odeon Limitless deals we’ve seen since the service launched in 2016. At once point you could get a £30 Odeon gift card, which wasn’t ideal when Limitless already covers your ticket. And earlier this year Odeon offered a “12 months for the price of 10” deal.

Last year Limitless also came with an Amazon voucher during Black Friday 2018, a £40 one too. However, £30 is enough to cover a Christmas present or two.
