FIFA World Cup: David Beckham has predicted these two teams will make it into the final

The former England captain has given his thoughts on the tournament so far and the surprising two teams that he expects to see in the final

David Beckham might have hung up his boots once and for all – but if you thought he was done with footie altogether then, boy, think again.

The 43-year-old former England captain has been putting his ol’ noggin to good use by predicting who he reckons will make it into the FIFA World Cup final.

And, unsurprisingly, he’s tipped England will make it all the way to the end along with Lionel Messi’s Argentina squad.

“I believe Argentina will play against England in the final,” Beckham told a crowd in China. “I think obviously my choice would be England to win the competition, but that’s me being biased and passionate about my country.”

“I’m very happy that we won the first game in the group,” he added. “England is a very young team, they don’t have a lot of experience yet and the journey of the World Cup will become harder and harder because there are many good teams in the tournament.”

So far England have only played one game – against Tunisia – and put in a solid performance with a 2-1 win, which means making it into the final isn’t totally unrealistic.

But, of course, die-hard England fans will remember that Beckham has history with the South American side.

During the 1998 World Cup quarter-final against Argentina, he was sent off after lashing out at Diego Simeone. Something that at the time made him public enemy number one for a brief period, before reinventing himself as the freekick scoring Goldenballs we now know and love.

Let’s just hope Harry Kane can keep it together this time around but knowing England, I’m sure we’re just going to go down in flames.
