He and Dec won at the National Television Awards for the 17th straight year

Watch Ant McPartlin moved to tears during emotional NTAs victory speech
24 January 2018

The National Television Awards, eh? NTAs and that. Loads of people getting awards for stuff on the telly - it’s what makes the world go round. Especially when either one or both of Ant and Dec win something - it’s expected by now, and if they were to go home empty-handed, it would rightly be a travesty.

So, good job that didn’t happen last night, because friendly old Ant and Dec won The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award for Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, and things got a tad emotional.

After the tough time Ant’s had recently, he was fighting back the tears as he took to the stage to accept the gong. Isn’t that what people call awards nowadays? Gongs? God I don’t know.

Anyway, here he is:

Stop crying, it’s just an Ant! The big man admitted he was ‘shaking’ and that it’d been a ‘tough 12 months’, but that he’d managed to pull through and return to our screens to get back to presenting.

Ant has had a tough year, first heading to rehab and then later filing for divorce with his wife of 11 years, Lisa Armstrong.

After checking into rehab for an addiction to painkillers last year, Ant told The Sun on Sunday: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.

“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time.

“I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”

So it’s great to see his life is now back on track.

Anyway, CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE FETCH ME A TISSUE OR TWO I’VE SPILLED SOMETHING.
