Under The Dome Renewed for Third Season
01 March 2013

It's had mixed reviews from the critics, but the TV juggernaut that is Under The Dome is coming back for a third season.

CBS announced yesterday that the series, based on the 2009 Stephen King novel of the same name, has been commissioned for a third run; in addition, they will film once again in North Carolina.

The final episode, Go Now, screened just a few weeks ago and, despite average viewing figures dropping from the 11.9m achieved for 2013's first run, to 7.2m (rising to 12.2m including DVR figures), it's nonetheless still one of the biggest hits of the summer.

Producer Neal Baer had previously said that he had five seasons planned out - and that he already knew the ending, so with season two finishing in a blaze of unexpected twists and a cliffhanger, lending itself perfectly to a continuation, it seems that he's one step closer to achieving his wish. Talking to Assignment X, prior to the start of season 2, he said "We have great adventures ahead...we've set it up so we can keep going. We have a lot of stories left to tell."
