Tom Hardy reading a bedtime story on CBeebies is just bloody wonderful

Dedicated, intense and ruggedly visceral, Tom Hardy knows how to give a performance to write home about. Even in crayon.

That’s right, proving he’s wasted on all us grown-ups, the Hollywood leading man is now going viral after appearing on an episode of CBeebies Bedtime Stories to read some kiddie literature.

Glaring earnestly into the camera, his dog resting its head on his knee, Hardy reads You Must Bring A Hat, a touching tale story about a young man trying to find a hat for party. It’s an important hat, and an important party. We really cannot stress this enough. If there were Oscars handed out for bedtime reading, Hardy would take the lot – he does the tale justice.

As you’d expect from the man who played both Kray twins, he even does the individual voices for each character, his dulcet tones lending a weight of gravitas rarely seen on Cbeebies, and we’re sure doing the exact objective of what bed time stories are meant to achieve by leaving every young viewer hanging on his every word.

The next time we’ll see Hardy on the BBC is for crime drama Taboo, on 7 January, where, incidentally, Tom wears a lovely hat.
