One of the GOT Assistant directors, Jonathan Quinlan, says you’re going to see something that’s ‘never been done before’
Season 8 of Game Of Thrones, yeah? Season 8 of it? Yep, season 8, mate, coming down the mountain when it comes. What an exciting prospect! A prospect made even more exciting by the fact that it’ll contain the biggest battle, ever. That’s right, a show known for big old battles, will be making an even bigger battle for us, the big battle fans.
According to assistant director, Jonathan Quinlan, this latest fight will be unlike anything we’ve seen before. In a now-deleted Instagram post he shared a pic of a producers’ note to the cast, thanking them for all their hard work filming the scene. A scene which took an unfathomably long time - 55 whole nights in total. What a slog.
The full text reads:
This is for the Night Dragons.
For enduring 55 straight nights. For enduring the cold, the snow, the rain, the mud, the sheep shit of Toome, and the winds of Magheramorne. When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won’t know how hard you worked.
They won’t care how tired you were or how tough it was to do your job in sub-freezing temperatures. They’ll just understand they’re watching something that’s never been done before. And that’s because of you.
Upsetting, that, isn’t it? Because it’s true: we don’t give a shit about how hard they worked, we just sit there watching in our jimmy jams, eating lasagne, and then we turn off the TV and normal service resumes. We don’t really have any insight or appreciation into how much hard work goes into delivering us an hour of entertainment on a Sunday night (or Monday morning, you weirdos).
Oh well, the world is full of underappreciated masters tirelessly doing quality work day after day, and seeing none of the respect they deserve; nurses, doctors, scientists, me. ME. DID I MENTION MYSELF?
