If you needed reassurance that the web isn't just filled with a load of Anonymous-masked hackers, credit card-robbing criminals and YouTubers racking in enough dosh to make you weep, then this is it.

It only seems like the new John Lewis Christmas advert, which depicts a lonely old man living on the moon, set the internet on fire five minutes ago, and yet stacks of video-editing creative types have already gone to town on an array of intergalactic recuts that, as ever, are even better than the original.

So far we've seen Clangers, grimacing Arnies and exploding Death Stars all make cameos in these extremely clever alt versions, and we're bracing ourselves for plenty more to come.

Here are the best so far...

The one with the Death Star superlaser, by Woody1234

The one with the creepy soundtrack, by Jo Hannah

The one with the Clangers, by The Huffington Post

The one with the scientifically accurate Arnie, by The Huffington Post (again)

The one with Bradley Cooper's American Sniper by Stuart Ensor
