She’s Gotta Have It coming to TV

Spike Lee has had a rather rocky patch of late. Aside from headline-nabbing for essentially hating everything from gentrification to Tarantino, he was also behind one of last year's biggest flops, the ill-judged remake of Oldboy.

But, like many others, he's wisely making the move to the smaller screen. His classic 1985 debut She's Gotta Have It is being adapted by US network Showtime, behind hits like Homeland and Dexter.

The film, a low-budget indie smash at the time, focuses on a woman juggling three men, including Lee, in Brooklyn. The show will be a half hour comedy, written and directed by Lee, that will update the plot and give a contemporary spin on issues of gender, race and sexuality.

It follows on from other movies being adapted into TV shows this year, including Fargo, Scream and About A Boy. You can read our list of more examples here.
