Watch Rupert Grint star in new Snatch TV series
18 January 2017

It’s been 17 years since Guy Ritchie’s cult classic Snatchportrayed a gangster filled helter-skelter diamond heist, which means it’s about time it was made into a TV series.

The new 10-episode TV series will air on Sony’s streaming service Crackle and sees Rupert Grint play the charming but chaotic Charlie Cavendish (and a role as executive producer), alongside former Skins alumni Luke Pasqualino, Lucien Laviscount (Scream Queens) and Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl).

Though there are undoubted similarities to it’s namesake, the adaptation’s plot won’t follow the same storyline as the movie.

Its synopsis reads: “Inspired by a real life heist in London, Snatch centres on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.”

And it’s got Guy Ritchie’s blessing so it can’t be that bad. Showrunner Alex De Rakoff said:

“I’ve known Guy for a long time so when I was approached by Crackle to look at this I went to him and said, ‘How do you feel about it? Do I do it?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, if it’s f–king good.’ And that was the end of it. I took that on and worked tirelessly ever since to try and do something that in some way holds up to the standard of the original film.”

The trailer is chock full of violence, strippers, jewels, gangsters and men in pig masks. Watch it below:

Snatch episodes are an hour long and will be available online 16 March.
