New Damien Cast In The Omen TV Series

We can't imagine it's easy growing up as the Antichrist. On top of all the usual drama of hormones and trying to work out how to do your hair, there's probably a lot of hassle caused by houses spontaneously bursting into flame and friends dying in freak accidents involving windows.

Word comes from Deadline that Bradley James (that chap from Merlin) has been cast as the mature Damien Thorn - the unfortunate child of the 1976 horror classic - in 20th Century Fox's upcoming TV series Damien. Star of the BBC's foremost fantasy series, the Devon-born actor recently gained US TV credits with his first appearance in Homeland. While we wouldn't immediately picture him as the spawn of Satan, we're interested to see whether he'll be the subject of terror, or the one causing it.

Having grown up haunted by his demonic past (there's no word on whether the TV show will follow the events of the film's sequels), the six-part series is set to follow Damien's struggle to come to terms with identity as the Antichrist. We're expecting flash backs, drunken bar fights ending in fires and a few heated encounters with down-and-out priests. There could even be some twisted political story lines.

Set to premiere in 2015, Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth) has been signed to executive produce and direct the first episode. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the resulting series will be along the lines of House of Cards meets Buff the Vampire Slayer.
