We all had fun with Bandersnatch, didn’t we? Choosing what to make our character do, slowly watching him get more and more deranged. There were even easter eggs at the end of the show – what more could you want from an interactive experience?
Well, it might have been the first interactive Netflix show but it certainly won’t be the last. And the latest to get the choose-your-own-adventure treatment, probably fairly appropriately, is everyone’s favourite urine-drinking wildman Bear Grylls.
You vs. Wild is an eight part TV series that lets viewers decide exactly what Bear should do whilst he navigates the wild.
As technology website The Verge points out, Netflix has said it will be “doubling down” on interactive programming – so this is likely to just be the beginning when it comes to choosing random celebrities’ fates or moulding the storylines of dramas.
“This is going to be a journey unlike any I’ve EVER embarked on before,” he wrote on Twitter. “I need YOU to think ahead, choose wisely, and most importantly, never give up.”
No word on whether we’ll be able to make him drink piss again, though. All the more reason to tune in, we guess.
