Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin is turning another book into a TV show
12 May 2017

George R.R. Martin is a busy man. Way busier than you.

The author is hard at work on the sixth novel in his long-running A Song of Ice and Fire series, and we know he’s involved in two of the possible Game of Thrones spinoff series’ that are currently in the early stages of writing.

But it doesn’t stop there. Oh no. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the man behind the world’s biggest show is teaming up with writer Jeff Buhler and Syfy to adapt his 1980 novella Nightflyers for TV.

Set in the future on the eve of Earth’s destruction, Nightflyers follows a group of explorers who begin a voyage to find a mysterious alien spacecraft that they believe could hold the key humanity’s survival. Unfortunately, they eventually find themselves trapped in deepest, darkest space with a homicidal computer, fighting for their lives.

Buhler will reportedly pen the script, with Robert Jaffe, who wrote the 1987 feature film based on the novel, serving as producer. Due to his deal with HBO, Martin won’t be directly involved in making the series, but he’ll no doubt be keeping an eye on the progress of his ever-expanding TV empire.
