We’ve had to wait a long while for Flight of the Conchords to return, but it’s finally business time.

After a series of sold-out live shows, some of which had to be rescheduled, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie are getting the show off the road and back onto our TVs with a fresh HBO special.

More than a decade has passed since the comedy duo cracked America with their show about, well, trying to crack America.

It’s hard to believe season one of Flight of the Conchords was a full 11 years ago, but there’s some good news for fans who missed the UK and US tours and have been waiting for more material.

News of an hour-long special first broke around the turn of the year, and it couldn’t exist anywhere other than their adoptive home of HBO.

Bret and Jemaine have now released a short teaser for the show, entitled Flight of the Conchords: Live at the London Apollo, and have confirmed it will air on 6 October on the American network.

They couldn’t just make a normal announcement, though: HBO got the pair on board for a special announcement, which itself shows a glimpse of the charm that won us over all those years ago.

Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have both been keeping busy in the years since the second and final season of Flight of the Conchords aired.

Bret has an Oscar to his name, for the song ‘Man or Muppet’ in The Muppets, while Jemaine took a starring role in What We Do in the Shadows, a fantastic mockumentary which will get an equally compelling sequel.

While the title of the new special seems fairly self-explanatory, it has been reported that Flight of the Conchords: Live at the London Apollo will feature new songs as well as some of the older material we enjoyed so much the first time around.

If we get an updated version of ‘Hiphopapotamus vs Rhymenoceros’ then we’ll be happy.
