Clarkson, Hammond & May's New Show Name Revealed?
18 September 2015

Hammond, Clarkson and May. Much-loved presenters, but the names don't exactly roll off the tongue do they?

So, the big question, as they prepare to launch their new show on Amazon Prime, is what exactly to call it. Top Gear is out. Fifth Gear also out. Sixth Gear not really very good. Wing Mirror? Bumper?

Well, it looks like they've actually come up with something pretty excellent, with Jeremy Clarkson's legal firm Olswang moving to trademark the name 'Gear Knobs'. See what they've done there?

It's been registered under a range of categories, including broadcast and merchandise and, while it's yet to be confirmed by Clarkson or Amazon Prime, we'd be amazed if this isn't the one they go for.

There have been rumours that the new show will be broadcast live, to give it an edge over their continuing rival Top Gear, which will be hosted by Chris Evans with still-as-yet-unspecified co-hosts.

Meanwhile, the three series, 36-episode deal with Amazon Prime is reported to have cost the streaming service £160m, which led rival service Netflix to say that it "wasn't worth the money".
