Chris Evans reveals alternative Top Gear title

Good Evans...

Had Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May kept the Top Gear brand for themselves, new host Chris Evans has revealed exactly what he would have wanted the BBC’s flagship motoring show to be called:

According to The Daily Star, “That Car Show would have been a good title,” said the broadcaster.

Meta. Though while it's unlikely this alt title would have ever come to pass, Evans' admission does at least hint at the waggish, unstuffy approach he’s set to bring to the show - despite all the flack he and his team have been getting of late.

From reported behind the scenes bust-ups, to the recent controversy which saw the host forced to apologise after a stunt saw co-host Matt LeBlanc performing donuts next to London’s Cenotaph memorial, there seems no end to the headlines of the show being in crisis.

Evans, however, now appears to have gone on the offensive regarding his supposed 'diva' like behaviour, ramping up his war of words with Clarkson and co. ,who have now begun filming their own rival show for Amazon Prime, by comparing them to "Zippy, Bungle and George”, those of course being the furry characters from classic children’s show Rainbow.

We can see that actually…

Chief instigator of bickering and not afraid of fisticuffs? Let's be honest, Zippy was the original Clarkson, just minus the racism. Tall, doddery and meek in the shadow of Clarkson - May can only be Bungle can’t he? And finally, the smallest one, sniggering like the impish kid at the back of the class, Hammond is George.

Whatever the case, Evans will be hoping one of them bungles it up come airtime.
